MARCH 2026 SASSA OLD-AGE GRANTS

Next month’s March 2026 SASSA Old-Age Grants are the last to be disbursed at the current rate. That’s because Wednesday 18 February’s 2026 Budget Speech is typically when annual SASSA grant increases are officially finalised. And those are then paid from April onwards.

Therefore, it’ll be status quo for March 2026 SASSA Old-Age Grants, paid on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. That means R2 320 will be paid to all over 60s. And over 75s will receive R2 340, the highest grant currently paid in South Africa …

In many ways, it’s been a smooth start to the year for the South African Social Security Agency. Bar a longer-than-usual five-week wait for beneficiaries in January, there’s been little issue with the agency’s service so far this year.

Now that February and March 2026 SASSA Old-Age Grants are returning to a conventional four-week cycle, attention turns to potential grant increases for the year ahead. While still to be confirmed by Finance Minister Enoch Gondongwana, the signs are good for above-inflation increases this year.
