AMAKHOSI TAKES ON RICHARDS BAY IN PERSUIT OF THIRD CLEAN SHEET AND THREE POINTS AT FNB STADIUM

Buoyant and upbeat   Kaizer Chiefs players and assistant coach believes they have struck the right note after winning their two opening Betway Premiership Soccer League matches.

The High flying Phefeni glamour boys are occupying  the second spot on the Betway log standings after collecting maximum points in their first two matches of the 2025/26   season.

They beat Stellenbosch FC  2-0 in Cape Town  and  followed up with 1-0 win against Polokwane FC at home last Wendsday.

This evening they will be hoping to consolidate those two wins against the Natal Rich Boys who have lost both their opening matches of the season.

Ahead of this evening encounter Chiefs Midfielder Thabo Cele told journalists they are raring to go and ready to improve many things within the team  also hinting they are growing together as a team.

“ We told ourselves we want start positively  and we achieved that .We are  looking forward to today’s game and many more games. We are trying to get to the next level get together and get good results.  Tactically we are trying to keep the positive things from last season. We want to control games.  We are expecting a difficult Richards Bay and we will try our best to overcome them. Complacency has been one of our biggest enemy and this is one of the things we discussed during the pre-season.”

Amakhosi ‘s left back Bradley Cross echoed the same sentiment that they had a good start and they just have to remain grounded.

“Pre-season was tough and was a good opportunity  for us to gel the team together. I feel that it’s been a good start for us we just have to stay grounded because there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. We just have to take game by game.”

Assistant Coach Ben Khalil Ben Youssef, said  his task was to mentally keep ready  the team for the next games .

“We have worked to correct some mistakes in the team. The importance of keeping same attitude within the team is very key.  We hope to be ready for this game.”
