In a resplendent setting amid the enchanting landscapes of the South African bushveld, The Seasons Golf, Leisure and Spa served as the glamorous backdrop for the Africa L.E.O (Luxury, Entrepreneurship and Opportunities) group’s Mother’s Day celebration.
The event was not simply a festive occasion; it marked a pivotal moment in the company’s commitment to enhancing fibroid research through its “Empower Her Essentials” initiative, dedicated to raising awareness for African women suffering from this often-overlooked health issue.
The exclusive brunch brought together an impressive assembly of industry leaders, pharmaceutical giants, and advocates dedicated to fostering change in women’s health. Among the notable attendees were beloved radio personality Penny Lebyane, the iconic award-winning singer and philanthropist Mama Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and prominent community builder Dr Tim Tebeila, alongside several other influential figures who share the vision of empowering women.

In an environment where unity and resilience were celebrated, Mama Yvonne Chaka Chaka took to the podium to articulate the importance of socially conscious initiatives. She acknowledged the founders of Africa L.E.O and their dedication to uplifting women and children. Sharing her personal journey, she reflected on her humble beginnings, emphasising the significance of education and encouraging young girls present to hold their heads high, irrespective of their circumstances. “What you can do is to work hard to take yourself out of the hardships,” she passionately advised.
Further emphasising the event’s mission, Daniel Robert Todd, co-founder of Africa L.E.O, underscored the need for meaningful partnerships that empower individuals. “Today, we gather to fight the scourge of fibroid while celebrating positive partnerships,” he noted. Todd’s remarks highlighted the foundation’s commitment to spearheading initiatives that champion economic and social development, specifically tailored to uplift women and children.
Romeo Manyika, an industrious entrepreneur and investor, summarised the purpose of the gathering: to foster education and action regarding fibroids, making it clear that the discussion is vital for the well-being of countless women in Africa. “Africa L.E.O’s initiative aims to spark meaningful change and create lasting impact in the lives of African women,” he asserted.
The event also acknowledged the significant contributions of esteemed figures such as Dr. Tebeila and Mama Yvonne, whose legacies serve as inspiring symbols of hope and resilience. Romeo expressed heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, reinforcing the collective goal: to drive impactful change in the lives of African women.
