The Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) was established in 2000 in terms of the Skills Development Act (as amended). The public entity aims to facilitate the skills development needs of the Wholesale and Retail (W&R) Sector through the implementation of learning programs, disbursement of grants and monitoring of education and training as outlined in the National Skills Development Plan (NSDP).

Attendees were loaded with solutions in accessing funding and networking opportunities in the market space, most of whom felt hopeless in their endeavors to take their entrepreneurship to the next level. Amongst the guest speakers Dr Mpho Mhlongo Jozi Fm CEO shared an encouraging speech of how a local station from zero budget strived to become the most successful media network in the Southern Hemisphere, 30 years of broadcasting and fully behind local businesses, Jozi FM in the month of Youth celebrations offering 5 Young businesses R50 000 worth of Free airtime in the form of Generic adds, interviews and extended the olive branch to this opportunity until July.

Many attendees were concerned about funding for their businesses and thanks to the professionals who gave expeditious insights and motivation on importance of compliance as the only stumbling block to many entrepreneurs’ failure to reach expectations, the presence of The Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (GEP) offered much needed help to the hopes and dreams of attendees of the Soweto SMME Business Breakfast session.
