THE SELF-INFLICTED PROBLEM EXACERBATING ALPINE’S LACKLUSTRE COMPETITIVENESS IN RECENT RACES
![]()
Alpine endured another dismal weekend at Formula 1‘s Mexico City Grand Prix, with Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto reduced to propping up the order once again.
Qualifying at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez acted as an omen for Alpine’s race pace, with Gasly lining up 18th, and Colapinto starting in the unenviable 20th spot.
Despite strong starts for both drivers, they quickly fell back through the field, ending the race in 19th and 20th, a lap down on the leaders, off the pace of the midfield.
That has been an all-too regular tale since the summer break, as Alpine has long stopped developing the A525 to maximise its attention on the rule changes in 2026.
