Chief Executive Officer

Tebogo Makgatho’s career is grounded within the information and communications technology (ICT) and services industry. She is driven by a passion to transform the ICT sector and break the barriers to entry into this predominantly white and male-dominated sector.

With the impact of technology, digitisation and artificial intelligence on the global society being felt on a daily basis and the Fourth Industrial revolution upon us, Makgatho feels keenly that South Africa needs to be prepared for the new frontier it faces. This, she believes, makes training and education absolutely vital. Makgatho is an evangelist of digital transformation, especially amongst the youth and has been engaged and immersed in youth programmes since her entry into the ICT sector.

Makgatho’s career in the ICT sector began as a research analyst investigating the sector’s trends and dynamics for both government and the private sector. She became a research manager at Information Systems Electronics and Telecommunications Technologies (ISETT) Sector Education Training Authority (SETA), looking at patterns of skills supply and demand.

Makgatho’s then moved to Torque IT as business development director and sales and marketing director. She was with Torque IT for approximately 10 years and for the duration, an integral part of the company’s strategy. In 2015, Makgatho joined one of South Africa’s leading ICT companies, Business Conexion Ltd (BCX), as a managing executive charged with the responsibility of turning Netcampus, a wholly owned BCX ICT subsidiary around. This had been a loss-making entity for some time. Her passion and understanding for training, coupled with her savvy business acumen, saw the company become profitable in a short period of time.

In 2017, she suggested a successful management buyout deal. Makgatho became chief executive officer and primary shareholder and turned Netcampus SA into a wholly black women-owned ICT training solutions provider. Netcampus is now South Africa’s preferred black women-owned, Level 1 BBBEE training provider for corporate entities and youth programmes alike, with one the largest portfolios of strategic partners and the ability to deliver training in all provinces across South Africa and beyond its borders.

In 2019, Makgatho was nominated to serve on the Global Skills Advisory Board for CompTIA, headquartered in Chicago. She is also one of the winners in the Inspiring Fifty Awards that recognizes leading women in STEM technologies, an initiative spearheaded by the Dutch government. Netcampus won the Rising Star Award from CompTIA in 2018. She has also been a finalist for the Investec SAVCA Awards and the Institute of Information Technology (IITPSA) IT Personality of the Year Award. Netcampus has been recognized for several Instructor Excellence and Business Development Professional Awards over the past two years.

Makgatho holds several professional qualifications, including a BSc in Genetics from Wits University. She also holds multiple project management, sales and marketing and business management qualifications from various institutions. She has served on the boards of Stortech (Pty) Ltd, Arbez (Pty) Ltd, South African NGO Network (SANGONet), Black IT Forum (BITF) and the Information Technology Association (ITA). She recently exited external boards to focus her energies solely on Netcampus’ stability and growth.

The Netcampus Group is a leading Information Communications Technology (ICT) Training Company with offices in Centurion, Fourways and Cape Town, providing training in all provinces in South Africa and even beyond its borders.

Netcampus brings a 360˚ approach to ensure that all learners (whether school leavers, individuals or professionals) are kept updated with the latest technology training solutions leading to advancement and unlocking potential.
