The South African U15 Boys National team bounced back from a defeat to register an emphatic 13-1 victory against Anguilla on Sunday evening in their third match of the inaugural FIFA U15 Boys World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Hattricks from Tshiamo Mashishi and Camdem Schaper – the first time any South African had scored three goals in a World Cup at any level – as well as braces from Katlego Mokhabuki and Lesedi Hlalele saw Head Coach Selekedi Mogale’s charges romp home with a big win. Neo Dhlamini, Bohlale Finger and Keanu Moses netted one goal each.
In three outings, the South Africans scored 22 goals – the highest in the group – and conceded only three, with two fixtures still remaining in the group stages.
They lie third in Group A with six points, just one behind log leaders France and the second-placed Estonia.
South Africa will face the latter two countries on Monday to complete the round-robin stage.
They take on Estonia in the morning at 09h30 followed by the clash against France in the afternoon – with both matches likely to determine who the group winners will be.
Earlier in the day, South Africa lost 2-1 to Kosovo, who are currently lying fourth and have six points.
After three matches, the Maldives and Anguilla are yet to shake the points column.
