REPUTATIONAL POLL INTERNATIONAL CELEBRATES EXCELLENCE AT 2025 100 MOST REPUTABLE PEOPLE IN AFRICA GALA
In a remarkable celebration of ethical leadership and achievement, Reputation Poll International hosted the 2025 edition of the 100 Most Reputable People in Africa gala at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton. This illustrious event extended beyond mere accolades; it served as a powerful reaffirmation of Africa’s commitment to excellence, integrity, and influence amid the continent’s ongoing challenges and emerging opportunities.
The gala, themed “Honouring Excellence, Integrity & Influence,” was underscored by spirited dialogues, performances, and an impressive array of dignitaries committed to shaping a self-defined and trust-driven Africa. The evening’s emotional depth was rooted in an insightful fireside conversation featuring Dr Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, South Africa’s former Deputy President and UN Women Executive Director, and activist-entrepreneur Busi Mkhumbuzi. Their discussion examined the multilayered responsibilities of reputational leadership, focusing on sacrifices, accountability, and intergenerational duty. Dr Mlambo-Ngcuka’s challenge to define true leadership by its active service rather than power proximity resonated deeply within a room filled with like-minded individuals.
Among the evening’s distinguished guests was His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III of Warri, who embodies a modern vision of traditional authority, merging heritage with innovation to foster economic inclusion and youth empowerment. His presence at the gala highlighted the essential role traditional leaders play in Africa’s narrative of development.
Equally impactful was the attendance of His Excellency Zolani Mkiva, South Africa’s National Poet Laureate, whose extensive contributions to African oral traditions underscore the importance of cultural custodians in forging Africa’s future. Dr Thebe Ikalafeng, founder of Brand Africa, reinforced a compelling message about the power of reputation as a strategic asset. The rich programme was further complemented by a stirring spoken word performance from poet Maryam Hassan Bukar, who touched on themes of migration, motherhood, and marginalisation, reminding attendees of the diverse forms of influence that shape societal discourse.

Clariza, a senior representative of Reputation Poll International, articulated the essence of the gathering in a poignant closing statement. This year’s list included influential figures such as Dr Martha Namundjebo-Tilahun from Namibia, renowned for her transformative work in healthcare, and Isatou Ceesay from Gambia, who has made strides in environmental sustainability and women’s empowerment. Celebrated figures like Karen Matsiko of South Africa and Rosa Whitaker Duncan-Williams also shared the spotlight, alongside prominent leaders like Her Excellency Dr Ameenah Gurib-Fakim and Her Excellency President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, known for advancing inclusive governance.
