The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA), through its Social Justice Committee, successfully hosted the 2nd Annual FEDUSA Cancerthon Walk at Elkah Stadium in Soweto, held in solidarity with cancer patients, survivors, and their families. The inaugural Cancerthon, a 5km walk, was also hosted at Elkah Stadium in 2024.

The initiative seeks to raise awareness about cancer, highlight available treatment options, and underscore the importance of comprehensive support systems for patients, survivors, and their families.
This year’s event was hosted in collaboration with DKMS, and proudly supported by FEDUSA’s affiliates, Old Mutual, AMPA Athletics Club, City of Joburg, Jozi FM, Aquelle, Arthur Mayisela Foundation, 712 Entertainment, Soweto Cancer Free Foundation, Dube Boxing Club, Ford, Central Gauteng Athletics, CMH Group, and Ubuntu Wellness Gym.

Leading the walk were cancer survivors, joined by FEDUSA General Secretary Riefdah Ajam, Deputy General Secretary Ashley Benjamin, and Vice President for Social Justice Anadele Coetzee. The 2025 Cancerthon featured an 8km walk, aerobics sessions, health testing stations, and a dedicated kiddies corner, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.

The event drew an impressive turnout of over 450 participants, demonstrating the growing reach and social impact of FEDUSA’s advocacy for health, wellness, and social justice.
